The County Treasurer is responsible for keeping accounts of and creating deposits for all county funds received by the various county departments, and for keeping the books, papers and money pertaining to the office ready for inspection by the Board of County Commissioners at all times. The Treasurer collects Property Taxes from land owners, which are the single greatest source of county government revenue. The Treasurer is responsible for accurately posting the taxes and distributing, monthly, these property taxes to the entities that receive a percentage of the total tax., i.e., the County School Districts, County Municipalities, etc. The Treasurer also collects and distributes Gross Receipts Tax and various other types of revenue that are distributed to the County by the State of New Mexico or various departments of the Federal Government.

First Half

• Due: November 10, 2026
• Penalty & Interest Deadline: December 10, 2026

Second Half
• Due: April 10, 2027
• Penalty & Interest Deadline: May 10, 2027

To avoid penalty and interest, payments must be received by the applicable deadline.
